How we made an enterprise mentorship platform #1 in LLM search | Linkflow

Background

The client’s platform helps massive enterprise-scale organizations build internal mentorship programs that boost productivity and accelerate employee growth. However, the professional mentorship field is highly saturated, so fierce competition combined with the challenge of targeting organizations with multiple decision-makers meant traditional SEO strategies weren’t cutting it. They were also up against not only a bigger competitor that dominates SEO in their field, but a changing landscape of digital business technology and needed someone to give them a fighting chance at standing out.

That’s when the client came to us. Our partnership started with only link building almost 2 years ago, but quickly snowballed into a robust content calendar and the secret sauce that made all the difference: a comprehensive LLM strategy. Now, the client is the mentorship industry’s primary thought leader and is well ahead of an ever-changing SEO landscape.

The client is extremely good at what they do, but they faced a few obstacles when growing their business. Namely:

  • A Complex Brand Space: the client is B2B. Lots of technology in the mentoring space is for direct to consumer apps, which the client isn’t. Yes, the client has apps for every type of device, but their customers are businesses not individual people looking for a mentor or hoping to become a mentor.
  • They’re not exactly short on competitors, so they needed to differentiate themselves from the rest of the market more strategically,
  • Their main competitor had invested a tremendous amount of resources into marketing, so the client had to find a way to do more with less.
  • Their previous SEO agency caved to the keyword stuffing temptation and prioritized pure traffic over genuinely qualified leads, and

How was the client supposed to solve these problems with a limited budget? With content, but not just any.

You see, despite the client’s top competitor high organic search rankings, they were focused on what we call “vanity metrics” rather than filling their top-of-funnel with leads that would actually convert. That’s why we proposed a different strategy: a content and link building campaign that followed a specific theme (in this case, guided mentoring) that specifically targeted LLMs and didn’t shy away from branded keywords.

Embracing Branded Keywords

A significant part of a good LLM strategy is branding. You can’t shy away from talking about yourself, otherwise AI won’t rank you as an industry authority, which is why we helped the client identify new citations to pursue, profiles to update, and third-party listicles to ask to be included in.

Branding was also essential in product positioning. Differentiating themselves from competitors was one of the client’s core challenges, so we selected link placements, target URLs, and strategic anchor text to strengthen the connection between the client’s brand and the concept of mentoring. We linked to pages that are not traditionally valuable in SEO, like product pages, but still showcased the client’s key selling points to help them stand out.

Leveraging Reputation

If your company has received any formal recognition, you’ve undoubtedly publicized it. So we did the same thing but with SEO in mind. We built a robust schema that connected the client’s brand to any press and awards they achieved and integrated social media and PR into their content suggestions. This way, their entire campaign (and all future campaigns) are coordinated across channels instead of doing SEO in isolation.

The client makes mentoring effortless. AI cares about reputation. The client’s modern, evolving platform is built for distributed teams and large groups, offering virtual assistance that guides mentors through successful conversations and fosters meaningful connections. With AI-driven matching and automated reporting, the client uncovers new opportunities for people across your organization and adapts seamlessly over time as your mentoring needs grow. But the most innovative products go unnoticed without visibility.

In the age where reputation is everything, growing your digital footprint online is mandatory. Cover new and trending topics and answer the questions that real humans have so you can deliver lasting value to the audiences you already serve and amplify your expertise. After all, if the client helps you build a thriving community of 10,000 participants, will you remember that it all started with a Google search for “What Makes an Effective Mentorship Program”?

This client offers the perfect solution for enterprise level guided mentoring programs. You’re perfect at what you do. And Linkflow ensures everyone knows it.
